Sonora ISD is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Maintenance/Transportation Director to oversee the district’s facilities maintenance and transportation operations and ensure safe, clean, and well-maintained school buildings, and student and staff transportation. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising maintenance activities, responding to work orders, and supporting preventive maintenance efforts across the district. The Maintenance/Transportation Director works closely with district leadership, campus staff, and vendors to address facility needs, manage maintenance projects, and ensure compliance with applicable safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong organizational skills, hands-on problem-solving ability, and the flexibility required in a small-district environment. Primary Responsibilities Include: •Oversee daily maintenance and transportation operations for the district •Coordinate and perform preventive and corrective building and vehicle maintenance •Manage supplies, equipment, and vendors •Support minor construction, renovation, and repair projects •Experience in transportation, facilities maintenance, construction, or a related field preferred •Knowledge of building systems and vehicles •Strong work ethic, organizational skills, and ability to work independently •CDL Certified (ability to obtain within the first 6 months)
