A school counselor supports students’ academic achievement, personal and social development, and college/career readiness. They work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, families, and community resources to ensure all students have the tools and support needed to succeed. Key Responsibilities include providing individual and group counseling to support students’ emotional, behavioral, and social well-being. Guide students in academic planning, goal setting, and progress monitoring. Assist with college and career readiness, including applications, financial aid, and postsecondary planning. Identify students in need of additional support and coordinate interventions or referrals. Respond to crises and provide short-term counseling or support as needed. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to address student needs. Promote a positive and inclusive school climate through programs and workshops. Maintain accurate student records and ensure confidentiality. Skills & Qualifications include strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build trust with students and families. Knowledge of child and adolescent development. Crisis intervention and problem-solving skills. Organizational and time-management abilities. Education & Requirements: Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field. State certification/licensure as a school counselor.
