May ISD is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year, with potential coaching opportunities at the junior high and/or high school level. Position: High School Science Teacher Possible Coaching Areas: To be determined based on district needs and candidate qualifications (e.g., Basketball, Football, Track & Field, Cross Country, etc.) Responsibilities: Science Teacher (Grades 9-12): Develop and deliver an engaging science curriculum aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for high school levels. Create a positive, safe, and challenging learning environment that fosters curiosity and critical thinking in science. Implement a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of all students. Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to support academic growth. Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine curriculum and instructional practices. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration regarding student performance and well-being. Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with science education trends. Adhere to all district policies and procedures. Coach (if applicable): Develop and implement effective coaching strategies for assigned sport(s), fostering skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Supervise and ensure the safety of student-athletes during practices, games, and travel. Promote academic success and positive character development among student-athletes. Maintain equipment, facilities, and records related to the athletic program. Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, and athletic staff. Adhere to all UIL rules and regulations and May ISD athletic policies. Serve as a positive role model for all students. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Valid Texas teaching certification in Science (Grades 9-12 or appropriate grade levels). Demonstrated competency in assigned subject area(s). Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior effectively. For coaching positions: Prior successful coaching experience, preferably at the junior high or high school level, is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of coaching techniques and strategies for the specified sport(s). Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching a variety of science disciplines (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, IPC). Experience with various coaching roles and sports. Salary: Commensurate with experience and May ISD salary schedule. TIA opportunities are available. Additional stipend for coaching duties.
