POSITION TITLE: PowerSchool Student Information System Manager EXEMPTION STATUS: Exempt REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Secondary School Leadership TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As assigned per contract 25-26 school year Primary Purpose: Serve as the subject matter expert in the student information system and the primary liaison between technical and non-technical staff. Ensure the successful implementation, optimization, and daily use of the software by providing expert-level analysis, support, and training to end-users. Maintain a deep technical understanding of the software and effectively train and communicate with end-users and other stakeholders. Qualifications: Education/Certification Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field PowerSchool certifications, preferred Valid Texas Driver’s License with appropriate insurance coverage Skills and Knowledge Strong communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills and ability to communicate technical terms and concepts to non-technical users Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail Strong organizational skills and the ability to use tracking resources and manage multiple projects simultaneously Proficiency with SQL or other database querying languages Strong documentation skills Experience: Minimum of three years’ experience as a software analyst, implementation analyst, or related technical role Demonstrated hands-on experience and advanced proficiency with PowerSchool SIS Proven experience in designing and delivering training to diverse audiences (new users to experienced) Major Responsibilities and Duties: Financial Ethics Comply with all policies and procedures; internal controls; board policies; and state, local, and federal laws as they pertain to the financial affairs of the district. Promptly report to the immediate supervisor or Superintendent any suspected violations of the code of ethics, such as theft, fraud, or any other dishonest act in the workplace. Act in an ethical and honest manner in all business transactions of the district. Maintain confidentiality of all data, files, and general financial information of the district. Safeguard against unauthorized access to assigned computer system and electronic data. Software Management Serve as the in-house subject matter expert for the PowerSchool SIS application, including all functionality, features, and integrations. Gather and analyze business and user requirements to develop strategies for using PowerSchool SIS to improve organizational processes. Troubleshoot complex issues, provide advanced technical support, and resolve problems escalated from end-users or the IT help desk. Conduct software testing for new configurations, system updates, and upgrades to ensure high quality and performance standards. Remain current on software updates, new features, and best practices from the vendor, and assess potential impacts on the business. Report and escalate issues or concerns to District administrators as needed. Perform risk management to minimize project risks. Provide regular project status updates and communications to administrators. Business and Technical Analysis Collaborate with various departments to understand administrative and campus needs and translate into technical specifications and configuration requirements for PowerSchool SIS. Document software processes, updates, and system configuration notes for reference. Analyze system usage and performance metrics, providing actionable insights and recommendations for process improvements. Manage and track issues in an issue-tracking system (e.g., Jira, Confluence) to ensure timely resolution Staff Training and Support Design, develop, and maintain training materials, user guides, and Standard Operating Procedures for the PowerSchool SIS application.
